STABILITY DETERIORATION OF CLIFF FACES DUE TO HISTORICAL MINING IN THE ELBE SANDSTONES PROTECTED AREA

The paper presents partial results of the expert cooperation between geologists and historians in Bohemian Switzerland (Elbe Sandstones) area focused on mapping documentation old quarries mining pits. More than three thousand abandoned for building stone were newly mapped registered within study area. Attention was given not only to preserved relics after their historical context: methods extraction also described, current state areas documented.
